Sultan walks tall to help teenager

The world’s tallest man is helping to raise funds for a Thai teenager.

Turkish farmer Sultan Kosen, 29, who stands at 2.51 metres, is recognised as the world’s loftiestman by Guinness World Records.

Mr Kosen will visit Ripley’s Believe It of Not! in Pattaya this weekend.

He has been invited to celebrate the 17th anniversary of Ripley’s and will also raise funds for Pornpiroon Saichanchom, 17, of Phitsanulok, who is suffering from Marfan syndrome. She is 1.96m tall.

Ms Pornpiroon, also known as Mamiew, said the disorder makes it difficult forher to walk. Shenoticed she was unusually tall when she was about 12 and she is still growing.

She is taking medication to stop her growth, but her family cannot afford the medical expenses.

Mr Kosen’s growth resulted from atumouraffecting his pituitary gland. In March, treatment to control his excessive levels of growthhormone was hailed as halting his growth.

Malee Duangdee,21, alsoa Marfan sufferer, also joined the visit.
